Elisabeth Kubler-Ross said it best when she said 'There is no correct way or time to grieve'. Grief is the natural process after losing a loved one. Although moving through the grieving process is unique to both the individual and the situation, there are stages of grief that are similar for everyone – denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Her own experiences with grief allow Satu a deep understanding and knowledge into the grieving process of others. Whether you have lost a family member, spouse, child, friend, beloved pet or even a life long dream, the

feelings that accompany that loss can be overwhelming and devastating. Unfortunately, our culture does not teach us about death or loss, so many of us are surprised by our grief and do not know how to cope. Instead of looking for help to work through these natural and expected emotions, we avoid it or fight feeling it. This seems like a solution, but actually ends up prolonging the pain.

In grief counselling, you will learn about grieving and how to work through the pain. Loss is not something we “get over” or forget; our loved ones mean too much to us to be so easily removed from our lives or our emotions. Moving through the pain to learn to live with the loss can help you to heal and rebuild your life.
